Delivering across Ireland
Our story since 2017

Growing Food,
Growing Community

We started UrbanPulseMedia with a simple belief: everyone deserves access to fresh, home-grown food, regardless of how much space they have. From a small workshop in Dublin to homes across all 26 counties, here is our story.

How It All Started ๐ŸŒฑ

In the spring of 2017, our founder Roisin Gallagher moved into a one-bedroom apartment on Parnell Street in Dublin. She had grown up in rural Donegal surrounded by vegetable patches and wildflower meadows, and the transition to city living felt like a sharp break from the natural world she loved. Her apartment had two small windows and no balcony. The nearest green space was a ten-minute walk away.

Roisin began experimenting with compact growing methods in her kitchen. She tried standard planters from garden centres, but most were too large, too messy, or designed for outdoor use. She started building her own self-watering pod systems from recycled materials, testing seed varieties that thrived in low-light conditions typical of Irish apartments. Within weeks, she was harvesting fresh basil, coriander, and lettuce from her windowsill.

Neighbours started asking where they could buy the same setup. Friends passed along requests from their own housemates and colleagues. By autumn 2017, Roisin was assembling kits at her kitchen table and posting them around Dublin. UrbanPulseMedia was born from that momentum, and the mission has remained the same ever since: make growing your own food as easy and accessible as ordering a takeaway.

What Drives Us Every Day ๐Ÿ€

Our mission is straightforward: remove every barrier between city dwellers and the satisfaction of growing their own food. These are the principles that guide how we design, source, and ship every kit.

Space Should Never Be a Barrier

We design every product for real Irish living spaces. Studio apartments in Dublin 8, shared houses in Galway, terraced homes in Cork. Our smallest kit fits on a surface the size of a paperback book. If you have a flat surface and a little daylight, you have enough room to grow.

Sustainability Is Not Optional

Every planter we sell is made from recycled materials sourced within the EU. Our compost is 100% peat-free, protecting Irish boglands. Packaging is plastic-free and fully compostable. We audit our supply chain annually and publish the results on our website. The planet is not an afterthought in our business; it is the reason our business exists.

Designed for Irish Weather

Ireland has shorter daylight hours, milder winters, and more cloud cover than most of Europe. Generic growing kits sold for Mediterranean climates often underperform here. We trial every seed variety and soil blend in Irish conditions before it goes into a kit. Our growing guides reference Irish seasons, typical indoor temperatures, and the amount of natural light found in common Irish housing types.

Honest Products, Honest Advice

We will never claim that our kits will replace your weekly shop or solve food insecurity on their own. What we will say is that growing a windowsill of herbs saves money on fresh herbs, reduces packaging waste, and gives you a daily connection to something alive and growing. We provide realistic timelines, honest growing expectations, and genuine support when things do not go to plan.

Community Over Competition

We partner with local allotment groups, community gardens, and schools across Ireland. In 2025, we donated 400 microgreens kits to primary schools in Dublin, Limerick, and Waterford through our Grow Together programme. We see every customer as part of a broader movement toward more self-sufficient, greener Irish cities, not just as a transaction.

Free Delivery, All 26 Counties

Growing food should not come with hidden costs. Every order ships free to any address in the Republic of Ireland. We dispatch from our fulfilment centre in Dublin's Docklands, and most orders arrive within 2-3 business days. For Leinster customers, next-day delivery is standard on orders placed before 2pm on weekdays.

UrbanPulseMedia office and fulfilment centre workspace in Dublin with team packing plant kits

Our Dublin Home ๐Ÿ“

Our office and fulfilment centre are located at 15 Camden Street Lower, Dublin 2. It is a compact space that reflects our values: functional, well-organised, and nothing wasted. Downstairs, our team packs and dispatches orders daily. Upstairs, Eoin runs a small trial growing area where new seed varieties and soil blends are tested before they go into production kits.

Being based in the heart of Dublin keeps us connected to the urban realities our customers face. The streets around our office are lined with terraced houses, apartments, and shared living spaces. Walking past our neighbours' windows, we can often spot our green and white planters on their sills. That daily reminder of why we do this work is something we would not trade for a bigger facility in the suburbs.

Our Environmental Commitments ๐ŸŒ

We believe that a business built around growing food carries a responsibility to protect the environment that makes growing possible. Here is what we commit to.

100% Recycled Planters

Every planter is manufactured from post-consumer recycled plastic sourced from EU-certified recycling facilities. They are designed to last a minimum of five growing seasons and are themselves recyclable at end of life.

Peat-Free Compost

Irish boglands are critical carbon stores and biodiversity habitats. All compost in our kits is 100% peat-free, made from coconut coir and composted bark. We transitioned fully to peat-free in 2020.

Plastic-Free Packaging

Our shipping boxes are made from FSC-certified cardboard. Inner wrapping uses compostable kraft paper. Tape is water-activated paper tape. Zero single-use plastic touches your order from warehouse to doorstep.

Annual Supply Chain Audit

Each year, we review every supplier for environmental and labour standards. Our audit covers material origins, energy use, transport emissions, and waste management. The summary is available to any customer who requests it.
